The Wanderer

Wraecca出自古盎格魯薩克遜的口傳詩歌《The Wanderer》,是在英國形成之前的封建部落時代流傳的口語詩,作者不詳,大約是一千多年前的作品。當然,我讀到的是後來轉寫成現代英語的版本。其中第十二行到第十五行是這樣子的:

i know it for a truth
That in a man it is a moble virtue
To hide his thoughts,
lock up his private fealings
However he may feel.

這種所謂隱藏感情的「moble virtue」簡直就是我這個閉俗死小孩的最佳註解。

不知moble跟fealings是不是有可能打錯字?

我猜是書上印錯了,moble應該是noble,fealings該是feelings才對。
